MY STORY
My name is Audrey, but my pen name is Adreyna – which I use in memory of my late father. When I was born, he named me Audrey, however when I was about three years old he began calling me Adreyna and it became his personal nickname for me that only he would use. Needless to say I felt very special and have treasured that name for all these years!
Anyway, on with the rest of the story…
Up to this point, I have experienced reasonable health for the most part and have never had to take any prescribed medications on a regular basis. Nevertheless, I have had a history of high cholesterol for most of my adult life. In the beginning the numbers were not too high, yet due to family history my doctor and other health professionals continued to monitor me closely.
Over the years, the cholesterol numbers began to slowly creep up and my doctor strongly suggested that I make lifestyle changes which would include diet, exercise, and the possibility of taking a low dose of a prescribed medication. Since medication was not an option I wanted to consider, I would begin making some changes, but to very little avail. This cycle went on for quite some time, actually for several years.
Eventually the cholesterol got out of hand. Of course my doctors were watching as well. It was no longer a simple suggestion or choice, but I was given an ultimatum. My doctor explained that my cholesterol had become quite high and proposed to start me on Statins in attempt to lower my cholesterol.
Having a family history of high cholesterol – as mentioned before, along with high blood pressure and heart disease, I observed firsthand the effects that various medications had on a few of my family members over the years. The side effects from the use of one medication would lead to another condition, which in turn would be addressed with more medications, followed by more side effects. After witnessing that spiral for a number of years, I was determined not to take any medication unless it was absolutely necessary and opted to go for more natural solutions – lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise and dietary supplements, as recommended by trusted health professionals.
After inquiring about using natural means to try to get my cholesterol under control one more time, my doctor agreed to give me six months to implement major lifestyle changes that would lead to results. If that didn’t work, she would have to prescribe medication since my cholesterol levels had become high. Therefore, I left the office knowing that I had to make some serious changes soon.
MY GOAL IN HELPING YOU
My method of choice was a lifestyle change consisting of diet and exercise. My doctor had told me that just a 20% weight loss could make a big difference if I was willing to start there. For me that was a no brainer. I had done it before and therefore had a good idea as to what to do; it was sustaining it that would be the problem.
Before starting my plan, I had a follow-up up appointment with a specialist who was monitoring another health concern that had flared up. During that time I was introduced to a nutritional weight loss plan that proved to be very effective in helping me meet my first objective. Through this experience, I realized that anyone could accomplish his/ her goals by simply following the plan that is best for them. It is for this reason I want to share my experience and information, hoping to inspire you to check out other options that may be available to you, as advised by your doctor or medical professional.
MY PURPOSE FOR CREATING THIS WEBSITE
While searching for credible data on lowering cholesterol, I realized how hard it was for me to succumb to the thought of taking prescribed medications for the rest of my life, if I didn’t have to. And while sorting through massive amounts of information was somewhat challenging, finding helpful, trustworthy sources proved to be worth the effort.
Consequently, I figured that if I felt that way, there were probably many others who found themselves in the same predicament, which brings me to the purpose of this site – to have reliable information in a place to share with others regarding healthy alternatives to controlling cholesterol.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you, or if you have a product you would like for me to review feel free to contact and I will be happy to assist you!
Best Wishes,
Adreyna
